Highlighted Projects
I like taking on new challenges that range from small programming problems to data creation and larger-scale community organization. These are a few projects I’m especially proud of.
Open Research Community Accelerator (ORCA)

The Open Research Community Accelerator (ORCA) is a student program that grows the impact of academic research by making research products accessible to other academics, local businesses, and community members through open source project. ORCA creates these products through student project teams called Pods — groups of dynamic and passionate students who learn industry open source practices by working on real projects destined for public use. This program is run and funded by the University of Vermont Open Source Program Office (VERSO). ORCA’s goals are to produce impactful, accessible, open source research tools by training tomorrow’s workforce in marketable open source skills.
Vermont Data Collaborative
Co-created the Vermont Data Collaborative, collaborating with state agencies, IT leaders, and researchers to develop a shared data architecture and governance framework, aligning technical infrastructure with policy, privacy, and research needs to support long-term, cross-sector data collaboration.

The is in partnership with the Leahy Institute of Rural Partnerships, the Center for Rural Studies, the Vermont Research Open Source Program Office and various state and local governmental organizations.
Vermont Data Science Group
Co-organized and helped grow the Vermont Data Science Group (formerly Burlington Data Scientists), a community-driven network of data enthusiasts dedicated to advancing knowledge sharing, professional growth, and collaboration across the region. In this role I coordinated and supported a range of initiatives including networking events, technical talks, hackathons, virtual “lunch and learn” sessions, and an annual data science conference (PyData Vermont 2024 & 2025), creating engaging opportunities for practitioners, students, and domain experts to connect, learn, and work together on real-world data challenges.
Vermont Livability Map

Vermont Livability Map is an open-source tool developed by VERSO-UVM to visualize critical datasets that influence the quality of life across Vermont. This project brings together the Vermont Zoning Atlas and the Wastewater Infrastructure Map, both projects of ORCA. This interactive map aims to support policymakers, planners, researchers, and community members in making informed decisions related to zoning, infrastructure, and environmental resilience.
